About the author

Sheila Balls, author, musician, former teacher, and sometime-red-hat-lady, lives in the woods on the beautiful Bruce Peninsula. The cats inside, the cows outside, and an assortment of woodland creatures provide inspiration for her writing, as do husband Carl, and grown kids Michael and Catherine.

Sheila generally has several writing projects on the go at once and jokes that she is the author of Five Books in a Drawer. (These are the unpublished books, written since The Brucedale Press put out her book Somebody Move the Cat!). She has published many articles in area magazines and newspapers, and written articles on teaching for Wee Teach, an online publication. She also writes poetry and childrens' stories.
