Excerpt:

So in the morning, it turned out that they WERE selling the house after all. They could have at least asked her advice! Well, there's one good thing, thought Lindy Lou. We can be messy again until we move. The past two months had been awful. You would just get your doll clothes all out and the phone would ring. Mom would be all calm on the phone but as soon as she got off she would practically go into hysterics.

"somebody's coming to see the house in a half hour!" she'd scream. "For Pete's sake get that dirty laundry off the floor! Is the bathroom clean? Lindy Lou, I hope you have a place to put all those doll clothes!"

You'd think the Queen was coming through. Lindy Lou could see it in her mind. "Good afternoon, Your Majesty. I"m sorry we can't look in this room today, but our daughter has it just full of doll clothes. Perhaps you'd like to see our clean bathroom instead?"
